介入手法The overall goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations (CSO) and NHRIs to effectively advocate for human rights and democratic reform through the UPR. To achieve this goal, UPR Info will provide an advocacy platform called Pre-sessions, consisting of a series of meetings organized in advance of each UPR Working Group (a State-led UN mechanism with little formal opportunity for CSO engagement). Each meeting consists of a panel discussion whereby national CSOs and NHRIs are invited to Geneva to present the human rights situation in the State under Review. Through participation in the platform, civil society can influence the recommendations that States will make at the UPR Working Group, ensuring that the Review reflects the needs of all rights-holders and contributes to sustainable progress on human rights. Participants are provided with training and advocacy opportunities, as well as strategies and tools that can be used in the follow-up phase to monitor the progress of implementation. A stipend will be offered to a small number of CSOs from LDCs to participate in the Pre-sessions.
