03 / プロジェクト基本情報

概要A US$23 million World Bank grant to rebuild and climate-proof the runway at Funafuti International Airport — Tuvalu's only international gateway — and to strengthen civil-aviation safety oversight. The full-length runway overlay was completed in early 2025; the project also funds navigation and safety equipment and a paid internship programme for women, and runs to 2027.
介入手法The Tuvalu Safe and Resilient Aviation Project (TUSRAP, World Bank P180674) is a US$23.0 million IDA grant, approved 19 May 2023, effective 19 July 2023 and closing 30 September 2027. Its objective is to improve the safety and climate resilience of Tuvalu's aviation sector and to secure reliable regional air connectivity. Three components: (1) Safe and Resilient Airport Infrastructure Solutions (US$19.0M) — rehabilitation and climate-resilient upgrading of the Funafuti International Airport runway (18,570 m² repaired/rehabilitated; a porous-asphalt overlay completed across the full runway by February 2025); (2) Strengthening Capacity of the Aviation Sector (US$2.1M) — civil aviation safety management and ICAO-standard safety and security oversight, plus a paid internship programme (target 14 women completing and certified); (3) Project Implementation Support (US$1.9M). It is implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Energy and Tourism (MTET), supported by the Central Project Management Office of the Ministry of Finance and a contracted Consulting Engineer team; civil works were delivered by Downer/GHD. Results-framework end-2027 targets: 12,000 people with enhanced access to transportation services; Funafuti runway 100% climate-resilient; safety and security improved to 70% of ICAO standards; 2 navigation-aid/safety equipment sets operational; 20% of project-generated jobs allocated to women. Mid-term review scheduled 18 July 2025.
